On Aug 13, 2018, Natural News contributor Isabelle Z. scathingly critiqued YouTube’s heavy-handed response to vaccine videos that are posted on its site: Not content to stop at banning videos, YouTube has decided to add “fact checks” and quotes to videos on topics that it feels are controversial, and the MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) vaccine is one of them. Last month, the video sharing platform started placing a blurb of text beneath certain videos offering viewers a “scientific” explanation.
Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System
The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) is a national early warning system to detect possible safety problems in U.S. licensed vaccines. VAERS is part of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program that was established by the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, which recognized that vaccine injuries and deaths do occur and that the vaccine-injured and their families should have the right to file a lawsuit in the court system if federal compensation is denied or is not sufficient.
The National Vaccine Information Center, a highly respected, independent clearinghouse of information about diseases and vaccine science and policy, published the following statistics about the adverse effects of the measles vaccine.
As of March 31, 2018, there have been more than 89,355 reports of measles vaccine reactions, hospitalizations, injuries and deaths following measles vaccinations made to the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), including 445 related deaths, 6,196 hospitalizations, and 1,657 related disabilities. Over 60% of those adverse events occurred in children three years old and under.
Since the inception of the vaccine injury compensation program nearly 30 years ago, the U.S. Court of Claims had awarded a total of $3,9 billion dollars to all (not just measles) vaccine victims for their vaccine-related injuries, while approximately two out of every three applicants are being denied compensation. The law shields vaccine manufacturers from being sued for damages, while fund payouts are financed by a 75 cent per dose excise tax charged on every vaccine sold.
