Reader says, “A cousin of mine who quit smoking only a few years ago now suffers from lung cancer, while another relative was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. What options do they have besides the conventional protocols of radiation, chemo, and surgery? They are receptive to pursuing alternative treatments such as medical marijuana.

My response

I am not licensed medical practitioner, so my comments are purely of an educational nature and are not meant to detect, address, cure, or avoid any type of disease. Please ask your cancer-stricken relatives to consult with their respective physicians before taking any action.

In response, Dr. Otto Warburg (1883-1970) was a famous medical doctor and physiologist from Germany who earned a Nobel Prize in 1931 for discovering that cancer cells use glucose as a fuel source rather than oxygen. Dr. Russell Schierling referenced Dr. Warburg’s findings in his 2017 report:

What did Dr. Warburg discover that was so incredible — worthy of a Nobel Prize? He figured out that blood sugar (glucose) is Cancer’s meal-of-choice. Warburg realized that cancer cells shared a universal characteristic — they were hypoxic (low levels of O2), requiring them to find another source of fuel. Instead of cancer cells going through normal cell respiration using oxygen, they respired anerobically by fermenting glucose and destroying MITOCHONDRIAL ACTIVITY. By the end of his life he believed and taught that this was the result of exposure to toxicity — as well as ACIDITY.

Tony Isaacs, author of Cancer’s Natural Enemy, published this comment regarding lung cancer treatment on The Best Years in Life website:

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found convincing evidence that is good news for lung cancer prevention: the combination of Vitamin B6, methionine and folate reduces the chances of lung cancer by a whopping two-thirds.

During the 1950s, Dr. Joanne Budwig was considered a foremost expert on fats and oils who became known for developing a dietary protocol for preventing and treating cancer. Her Budwig Diet included these guidelines:

• Drink only purified water
• Receive adequate amounts of sunshine to stimulate healing in the mind and body
• Eliminate all processed foods from your diet
• Do not consume sugar, meat, or animal fat
• Prepare only fresh and organic fruits and vegetables
• Prepare and eat foods immediately, never use leftovers

Dr. David Jockers is a functional nutritionist, corrective care chiropractor, and exercise physiologist whose article on the Budwig Diet Protocol for Cancer contained the following statement:

While researching the pathogenesis of disease and illness as a biochemist in Germany, Dr. Budwig observed that quark (a soft fresh cheese) contained the very same sulphydryl groups found in cancer treatment drugs. These sulphydryl groups are cysteine and methionine amino acids.

The Organic Sulfur Connection

Please take note that the lung cancer and Budwig Diet protocols both made reference to the inclusion of two important sulfur-based amino acids: cysteine and methionine. Jack Challem included this commentary about the importance of sulfur to human health in his 2000 report that was republished on NaturoDoc:

Sulfur is found in every living cell. It’s part of the molecules that form the amino acids (protein building blocks) methionine, cysteine, and taurine, which are essential for health. It’s a constituent of vitamin B1 and biotin, the antioxidant glutathione, the anticoagulant heparin, and coenzyme A, which drives energy production in cells. Sulfur is an integral part of the biological cement that forms skin, hair, nails, and the cartilage that shapes your nose and pads your joints.

In his list of popular sulfur-containing supplements, Chellem included methylsulfonylmethane (MSM or organic sulfur). Cancer Tutor founder Webster Kehr has published several articles (such as the following excerpt) that describe how to take MSM as part of cancer-fighting protocol.

This protocol is synergistic with chemotherapy and makes chemotherapy more effective and less damaging. However, if you are on any other type of prescription drug, do NOT use organic sulfur until after you talk to your pharmacist and physician about using high doses of organic sulfur (2 or 3 TABLEspoons of the crystals a day) with your prescription drugs. That is what pharmacists get paid to do.

Echoing Dr. Budwig’s dietary guidelines, drinking plenty of non-chlorinated water is an important aspect of the MSM protocol for cancer.

Do not drink any form of tap water with this protocol, as tap water contains chlorine which can neutralize MSM. Use the hot water faucet if you are going to drink tap water or if you are going to use cold water, make sure it sits for at least an hour before using.

While we breathe in oxygen through our lungs, it’s the oxygen in the water we drink that organic sulfur transports into our lymphatic system that enables our cells to repair the damage caused by cancer.

Besides chemotherapy, organic sulfur can also coexist with the Budwig Diet, with the following restriction:

For those who are taking the Budwig Diet, MSM and Vitamin C should NOT be used within three hours of the Budwig Diet, on both sides. It is perfectly safe to take MSM and Vitamin C, but not within the three hours on both sides.
