Years ago, Memorex ran a popular series of television and print commercials about its audio recording tape that was known for its “Is it live or is it Memorex?” tagline. Let’s reframe the message of this iconic piece of advertising from the perspective of personal health.
Are we adding natural or man-made substances to our bodies?
Imagine that you’ve turned on your television set, half-listening to what’s being broadcast. Your uneasiness builds, as your subconscious mind absorbs the subtle programming messages.
Close your eyes and envision the people you know who suffer from chronic illness of one kind or another. Think of the labels that have been assigned to these diseases. How many of these diseases were commonplace when you were a child, or during the youthful years of your parents and grandparents? What changed to bring this about?
Now focus your thoughts on aspartame, GMOs, Prozac, Paxil, petrochemical fertilizers, pink slime meats, Gardasil, vaccines, and fluoridated water. Why are these products allowed to impact our bodies? Who gains from their use? Who loses?
Compared with a safe sweetener like stevia, what’s natural about aspartame or any of its lab cousins? Why is there such an illogical push and mandate to vaccinate young boys with Gardisil, when they don’t even have a cervix in their bodies? Again, who profits from this?
Fluoride is a byproduct of aluminum smelting. Prior to and during World War II, Germany and Russia used fluoride to ‘make prisoners stupid and docile.’ By promoting the use of fluoride in commercial toothpastes and drinking water, aluminum manufacturers like Alcoa have been allowed for decades to dispose of their hazardous wastes for a profit, while the citizenry’s health declines.
Earlier this month, a 65-year-old Los Angeles man named James Stewart was jailed and tortured for the “crime” of selling raw milk. Last summer, Stewart’s co-op, Rawesome Foods, was raided by authorities and all its raw milk supplies were either dumped on the streets or removed from the premises. As noted on Raw-Milk-Facts.com and other websites, one health advantage to raw milk is that because it contains a full complement of enzymes and lactase-producing bacteria, chances are good that it can be safely consumed by lactose-intolerant individuals.
Dr. Weston A. Price (1870-1948) is well-known for his extensive research into the health and dietary habits of isolated ‘primitive peoples’ of the world who thrived on traditional diets, rich in essential food factors. Here is a quote from the Weston A. Price website: “These primitives with their fine bodies, homogeneous reproduction, emotional stability and freedom from degenerative ills stand forth in sharp contrast to those subsisting on the impoverished foods of civilization…”
Lab-grown hamburger meat recently joined GMO grains and genetically engineered salmon in the endless quest to produce a virtualized diet, devoid of natural foodstuffs. At the same time, a growing backlash against genetically engineered products is taking place under the radar, as various states and activist groups push to require labeling of GMO products sold in grocery stores.
The human body is a holistic system and should not be treated as separate and independent compartments. It’s made to thrive in a natural environment. In contrast, commercial drugs mask symptoms and often create adverse side effects, which becomes a vicious cycle more drugs are added to the mix to counter the initial symptoms.
Our bodies are designed to cure themselves. Medicines and supplements administered or recommended by allopathic and alternative physicians should provide the means for the body to cure itself naturally.
